Overnighting in Brugge

AKA Bruges. This is the view from our hotel window,  though most of our exploring here will be on the way home. It's been a rather fraught journey. The train to Brussels was running late, and we made the Brugge train by the skin of our teeth.

It was our first time on the Eurostar and we enjoyed the light meal (See Extra).

The first part of the journey was the worst by far. Our neighbour drove us to Grantham and happily set off well early. Good job as there were dreadful stop-go queues to get to the station. (Apparently caused by an accident on the A1 and its knock on effect of diversions.)

Then, having pushed the boat out and booked first class + reserved seats and refreshments, an announcer warned everyone on no account to get on the train as it was full, following a series of cancellations. Apparently, the government already owns LNER. Heaven help us when they nationalise the lot.

But the worst is over. The room in the Radisson seems comfy. Tomorrow our son-in-law picks us up and drives us to join them at a coastal CenterParcs in Belgium.

Extras include daughter's photos of their car ferry crossing that the grandchildren loved, especially views of the white cliffs of Dover.
