Gophers in the Garden

The mascot for the University of Minnesota is the Golden Gopher. The U of M Landscape Arboretum has ten Gopher statues on display, each custom designed to represent a part of the history of the University or the Arboretum. Here is Traditional Goldy. This is my favorite, Corn Growing Goldy. I liked his jeans and 5:00 shadow. He looks like he has been working in the field.

It was a hot day and I was tempted to stay home and hibernate in my cool house. We got warm running around the gardens, chasing the gophers, but it was a good to get out and enjoy the evening. We can sit inside all winter!
