"It's Great Fun At The Old Brickyard...
...Meandering around the old Brickyard today and - not far from our home either.. it has been in business since 1935 and no doubt a lot of buildings in the district and beyond have been built from clay bricks made right here..
...It really is in another World of its Own, so quiet, with the faint sound of the traffic crossing the main bridge interstate, and the sound of the birds. And, no doubt a good place for snakes too, but we're used to looking out for those..
...We do enjoy going out there to check out the pavers stacked here and there among the grass, there just maybe some we can buy to add to our existing 1981 pavers which are hard to come by - indeed our own home was possibly made from bricks from there as it's double brick and that's a rarity these days..
...Here you can see the old Brick Kiln with the Air Fans - (or air intakes) all dotted along the side(s) and the old Champion tractor there in the front...and at the back of the kiln - stacked right to the top were the red bricks possibly all cooling now...they still make a few the Caretaker told me, but not a lot..
...It would have been stifling hot in summer working right there no doubt, hence the later addition of the roofing...but it's great fun walking around out there..the Caretaker (or maybe he's the Owner?) - tells me he loves it out there too..
