The Artisan Bakery

Always a queue on Saturday morning. Popped in to the market to get a Romanesque cauliflower to have with the fresh steak pie that I bought from the butchers in Much Wenlock yesterday. My husband’s favourite meal. I think the pie may be something to do with having been in the army for years.
Finished icing the eight coffee and walnut cakes for tomorrow’s open garden at my friend’s house. Her very last one. She has sold the house. She has made over £60,000 for charity in the past 20 years, opening her garden as part of the NGS garden scheme. We think it might be busy so have made 150 slices of cake between eight of us. A variety of: Victoria sandwiches, apple cakes, flapjacks, gingerbread, lemon drizzle, scones with cream and strawberries, Bakewell tarts, chocolate cakes, fruit cake and orange almond cake which is gluten free. The end of an era. We shall all be very sad.
