At the Book Festival
In its new home of the Futures Institute of Edinburgh University in the old Royal Infirmary building. I was at a talk by Kate Foster who wrote The Maiden and The King's Witches, both historical novels focussing on women and set at least partly in Edinburgh. Sally Magnusson was interviewing her and it was a very enjoyable event.
I also explored the new setting and reckoned it had some good points compared with Charlotte Square, with lots of nice loos and plenty of indoor space to sit, however, there wasn't as much outdoor seating and I'm not sure there was enough catering. This was the first morning of the festival, so maybe some things will change as it goes on. I'll check it out again when I next visit.
In the afternoon I went to see The Outrun at Church Hill Theatre as JMac had a spare ticket. We had some reservations about the production, and it will be interesting to compare with the film which will be released in September.
