Amazing honeycomb

This is the third day of beekeeping blips..... see 13 and 14/7/13 if interested. The bees made this small piece of comb inside the skep overnight . It measures about 2.5 " x 1" ,but would become much bigger if they had been left there . It is made up of hexagonal cells built on both sides of a central vertical partition or septum. The base of a cell on one side of the septum makes up part of the bases of three cells on the other side. A design feature which provides strength. The walls are approx. 0.0006inch thick with thickened top. The cells are angled upwards slightly to prevent the liquid nectar from running out. The wax is secreted by glands on the under side of the abdomens of young worker bees. How cool is that ?!!!!
