A girl’s best friend
My daughter Bethan and family went back to London this morning and the house is suddenly quiet without the baby and 3-yr-old. After they left we drove over to my other daughter’s house to check on the cat., from where we walked the dogs and explored the area around her house. We found a nearby park that we hadn’t visited before. Thompson Park is 10 acres of green space with an interesting history and some unique features including a small lake (more of a large pond) and a water fountain with small statue.
The park was originally named Sir David’s Fields named after a 15th century knight. In 1911, the owner of the field, Charles Thompson, gifted the land to Cardiff Council on the condition that they retained the original name and he was allowed to maintain the park at his expense. Later, the council took over the maintenance and at some stage the park’s name was changed to that of the benefactor.
The main is Sally enjoying the sun with Gruff who never misses the opportunity to jump up and join whichever one of us is sitting on a bench. True devotion. The extra is the statue in the middle of the pond surrounded by a glorious array of flowers.
