Art installation?
We went out for our customary walk on the Green this afternoon, and I spotted this row of peeled conkers laid along a deep split in one of the benches which are dotted about the Green.
At the turn of the last century over 190 horse chestnut trees were planted along a one mile stretch of Woodford High Road and the chestnut avenue is much loved and appreciated by the residents. Unfortunately though, the trees are showing signs of leaf miner moth and/or bleeding canker, so the leaves turn brown much earlier than they should.
Someone has clearly been enjoying themselves by peeling some of the fallen conkers and then arranging them in a line for the enjoyment of other passers by!
