Marjorie's ramblings

A “small” snag

First, thank you for all your good wishes for Maureen and Brian. Brian is still alive today.

When I woke this morning, I knew I had a choice. I could stay in bed and rest or I could get up, make a packed lunch and go walking with Kay, Eric, Tony and Marie. I thought I might mope at home, so I made myself get up to walk.

We had a lovely walk from Talkin Village to Talkin Tarn and then on through the Gelt Woods. All went well until we were due to cross the High Gelt Bridge.

The sign says it is closed for 12 weeks, but why not leave a tiny gap for walkers?!

Between us we tried all sorts of solutions. In the end we climbed, gingerly, onto the bridge at one side and shimmied around the end of the fence. No photos were allowed! We all had filthy trousers but we made it through.

Then we had to work out an alternative route and walked to check out if a footbridge on the map was still operational. This added a couple of miles to our walk.

My hip seems to be OK for 6 miles and then aches a bit. We had an unscheduled tea stop when I swallowed paracetamol and a Snickers bar. That did the trick

My extra shows the happy group of walkers.

Apart from heating up a beef stew, I have done NOTHING this evening!
