Living my dream

Brrr

You can't tell from this sunny photo, but the South Pole wind blew all of today. 6C was the high. And the wind chill took it down to 0C.

It was a sociable day: a last-minute trip to see FFL and F in Moeraki (their crib is hidden behind the trees in the middle of this photo). They drive back to Chchch tomorrow and I was keen to see F now that she is out of hospital and recovering from last week's emergency. She was happily chatty, but tired quickly and went to bed as soon as we'd eaten.

I took a container of hearty winter-warming soup for lunch, which we gobbled up accompanied by bread, smoked fish and salami (all courtesy of FFL). A delicious home made lunch.

FFL and I chewed the fat and put various small parts of the world to rights. In our own minds anyway.

Bean played with Reilly and Bryn, then retired to the sofa next to me for a wee snooze. She will sleep well tonight.

On the way home we visited Marian, who Bean adores without reservation. A couple of hours with her over a cup of tea further grounded me. And Beandog.

We got home in the gloaming.

It has been a wonderful day with people (and dogs) I love.
