A concrete love affair

Brora, Northern Scotland

A fantastic tour of Brora’s really interesting heritage, with thanks to Aileen!

In the background is the A9 bridge across the River Brora, completed in 1929, and designed by renowned concrete architect Sir Owen Williams. It was one of many structures built in that decade which brought much improved road connections between Perth, Inverness and the Far North!

This wonderful tour was part of a really magical day in the Far North, setting off from Perth, reaching as far as Thurso, Srabster, Dunnet Head and John O' Groats. The aim of reaching Dunnet Head was every reason and no reason at all, simply to say I'd driven my car to both the northern and southern most points on Great Britain, having took it to Lizard Point in 2022.

Some really interesting images of the Brora bridge on this webpage https://theimmeasurablewilds-sutherland.co.uk/451904469/a-new-bridge-at-brora
