ORCAS!

What a treat for our (well, my)  last day.  Just lay down for my nap when I got summoned that there were orcas next to Galiano.  so I slowly made it to the wharf for what turned out to be a long and wonderful show.  Very exciting!
  We think just 4,  big dad, (?) 2 middle sized and one very small.  These 4 together had swum west to Sphinx Island.   We thought about getting in a boat to be closer but thought they’d be gone.  Sometimes the whales just pay no attention to the distance required. ( 400 meters)  there was 1 whale boat, some kayaks and a few other sail and motor boats gathered…all respectful.  ( but closer than 400 m)   Will try to find out if they are resident or transient whales 

Peter and Fi helped clean out some artwork in the the studio drawers but it’s a huge project.   think we’ll play a game now.  A drizzly day.   Our friends on the boat came for coffee before they left.   will explain tomorrow why it’s my last day.
