Landmark
16yo, 19yo and I travelled into Rhyl to see my Mum, who was reasonably bright. Then we headed to the station where 19yo left us to return to Lancaster and 16yo and I caught a train half an hour along the coast for an afternoon in Llandudno.
There was a little bit of rain about, and it was very windy along the front, but still very busy out. We walked along the prom, past boat trips and Punch and Judy, to work our way onto the pier. It is of course a seaside rule that where there is a pier you have to walk to the end of it.
Returning to dry land, and to gain some respite from the throngs, we walked up onto the lower slopes of the Orme to Haulfre Gardens for our tea room stop. At the far end of the gardens this special view across the Conwy estuary, along the coast toward Penmaenmawr and Anglesey, opens up - although the mountains behind were shrouded in cloud.
We pottered around town on our way back to the station, once again missing an art gallery visit because of a Monday closure. Later back in Denbigh we ventured out to try to see the supermoon- it was very cloudy, but we were finally rewarded with a few glimpses.
It's nice to be back home in Wales for a landmark blip. 5000 is a pleasing number. As always, thanks to all who keep the site going, and to everyone for making it the community that it is.
