Mersea day out
Went for a day out at Mersea. A run first, not my usual route, up and down the streets for 7k. Got a bit hot so stopped for water, rather than continue for the planned 10k. Then went down to the beach. It was busier than usual, and although sunny, had a brisk wind. Swam a fair way, with the wind and tide, it was fairly choppy but warmer in the water than out, as the wind quickly cooled me off. B stayed and sketched the colourful beach huts - too windy for paints as the paper would not stay still. After a short spell on the beach, entertained by the sailing boats speeding along, working hard to avoid their spinacres becoming in a tangle, and kites soaring in the wind, we were ready for lunch. We decided to go into town. Mersea Week and the food delivery had not arrived, so there were very limited menu options and the staff were in a bit of a panic - good for us that the haloumi burger was still on - very tasty. They had to turn too many customers away and we both reflected that we were glad that we were not owner of this business.
