Dessert in Porvoo
Today we decided to head to Porvoo for dessert. Porvoo is about 50km East from Helsinki. The town received its name from a Swedish earth fortress near the river Porvoonjoki which flows through the town. The name Porvoo is the Fennicised version of the Swedish name (Borgå) and its parts of borg meaning "castle" and å "river".
Porvoo is one of the six medieval towns in Finland, first mentioned as a city in texts from 14th century. It's the second oldest town in Finland. It's very beautiful in Old Porvoo area. The town is famed for its "Old Town", a dense medieval street pattern with predominantly wooden houses. Porvoo is also famous for its lovely restaurants and cafes.
Porvoo was a good place to use my fish eye. This is the market square in the Old town. We were so late that there weren't that many tables left.
When we got home our little dog was stung by a bee. In seconds he started to "crash down". I had kind of a little emergency since my husband was riding his bike and had no phone with him. I called the animal hospital for guidance, but we didn't have the proper medication in the house. None of the neighbors had either. Luckily he came home quick and rushed to the nearest pharmacist as I stayed home and kept sure he was still breathing and keeping still so the venom would not spread so fast. Now he's had the pill, slept and is starting to sit up. Hopefully we don't have to visit the small animal hospital this evening.
