Flowering Currant in the Wild
I find these pretty flowers in bush settings where there is a light fragrance in the air when they are flowering in early spring. The edible fruit is a dark purple oval berry.
Native to western US and Canada, they are the same family as blackcurrants and redcurrants. In New Zealand they are classed as invasive because they grow densely in shrublands and crowd out natural vegetation.
