Under scrutiny

This morning down at the railway it was all action. Our engines have to pass the same rigorous testing as any that are on the main national railway. The men had been busy preparing the engines for the testing. The two men on the right of the photo are the testers and the one on the left is our engineer who is overall in charge of maintenance and teaching and testing those who eventually become drivers or firemen
I learnt today that everyday we steam up our big AB 699 it takes 6 cubic meters of wood for the day. Lots of farms around the area donate trees each year but it takes our men many long hard hours with chain saws to cut it and cart it. We have a team of amazing volunteers
It’s a group I am proud to belong to even though I only work in the ticket office or the kitchen for tours. Every person to where they fit best
