Around the Block

All good things . . .

. . . must come to an end!

In our first year here in Blanes, in 2022, we stayed 6 nights, the second (last year) about 11 nights, this year, it was 17 nights and, like insatiable kids, we are still wanting more!

It was, in fact, the very first place we stayed in the Costa Brava during an October long weekend at the start of my MBA in 1991, when we camped on the edge of the town and never explored further to find out what was actually in the town. We were full of wonder, as Scots, about what October gave weather-wise in Spain!

Blanes is not as glam as some of the places further up the Costa Brava, including our all time favourite, Cadaqués, but you can get here on the train in an hour and a half from Barcelona for 4.70 euros per person, one way, without hiring a car that stands idle for the duration of the stay or paying over two hundred euros return on the bus!

We will be back for sure whether that’s in season or out, depending on how Brazil ‘commute’ plans pan out in the future!

Finished off with a nice lunch in Cal Tony and appreciated the staff as a very helpful collective who have made every visit a pleasure with a nice group tip!

What we can say is that we have had a very privileged time, here, to relax into very little and feel the better for it!
