Formal garden, Anglesey Abbey
Most of today's excitement came this afternoon when we visited the Archives at Girton College (at long last). Here we learnt more about Lorna Lloyd's undergraduate years at the University of Cambridge.
We took quite a lot of photos when we were at Girton. However, rather than select one as my blip for today, I'll put all these together with a post on my blog at http://hazelhall.org when we return to Edinburgh. In the meantime, I'll share the most interesting finding of the day: that Lorna was already showing signs of her final illness in 1935.
Prior to our visit to Girton, we spent an hour and a half at Anglesey Abbey. We arrived there in time for a 75 minute guided tour of the gardens. There were just four in our party: the pair of us, another tourist, and the guide (whose sister lives in Rothbury - noted for Munroist4113). The gardens were very varied, ranging from purple cyclamen-carpeted woodland to manicured lawns guarded by C18th sculptures. I have chosen this shot as my blip because I liked the symmetry of the formal garden.
Exercise today: small amount of walking (8,773 steps).
