Another Fine Performance

M,B and I went to Holkham Hall this evening to watch the Lord Chamberlain’s Men perform Hamlet. This is their 20th year of performing Shakespeare’s plays in the traditional manner, just 7 men playing both male and female parts, all outdoors.

In the past it’s been held in the walled garden. This year it was in the Elizabeth Courtyard close to the Hall itself. It worked very well on a practical level but I think I preferred the more beautiful and tranquil setting of the garden.

What was just as good as ever was the excellent performance.
