Seriously?

Mates

Rufus met one of his free running mates on the sea front this evening as we strolled. One of Akbuk's street woofers who we've seen several times. Young and gentle, he roams while looking for kindness. Could so easily be the other way around with Rufus still being a street/council shelter dog and this boy being the lucky pooch who got adopted. Fate and destiny. My friends in the CODA* charity group are becoming more and more distressed as no one knows for sure to what extent the local council authorities are going to obey the new law requiring all street dogs to be rounded up and euthanized after 30 days at the already over crowded council shelters. What is for sure is that some awful people are already taking the law in to their own hands and not doing it kindly. There have been demonstrations in many towns and cities - including London - against this inherently political and unrealistic licence to kill.  Pressure is on animal lovers, including of course locally the CODA group, to get as many dogs off the streets and adopted as soon we can,. Easier said than done however.

*Care of Didim ownerless Animals, both at the shelter and on the streets.
