Promise
... of loveliness to come.
Smithiantha received with the name 'British Royal Family' but I cannot find any evidence that this is a valid name. It's likely a hybrid, perhaps of Smithiantha canarina which it resembles. These unusual gesneriads get passed around so much that names can get lost or confused ... or made up! Whatever, it's a beautiful long flowering house plant with the bonus of attractive leaves which are covered in fine hairs making them look like felt. Also a useful Emergency Blip on a wet evening after a long day at work!
The day started damp but turned bright at breakfast time, so much so that I risked a load of laundry outside before work. Big drops of rain fell as I drove home eight hours later but I got there before much harm was done. A busy shift in the kitchen at Aber Cafe, repeating the recent trend.
I have reason to thank two lovely friends today. A near neighbour who came to fuss the dogs and take them round the block while I was at work and Julie (aka Lovetrees) who sent a little gift down from Lancashire with a friend who's here for a holiday. So I was treated to crumbly Lancashire cheese on toast with my soup at tea time :-)
