Day at a Time

Sunrise from Broughton

There was a dramatic moment at about 05:30 this morning. It didn't last and although I've blipped sunrise over Pierowall Bay so often that it's hardly original  I'm not complaining. The angle isn't as easy as it used to be for me when we stayed at the cottage right on the bay. So I pulled on a fleece over my pjs and popped out. You can thank me later :-))

A lovely meal last night. And indeed the wind wasn't as fierce when we left to walk back to the B&B which was a relief. This morning it's flat calm.

We have a full day here and plan to walk round Loch of Saintear before having lunch at the cafe by the loch. This afternoon I will call in to see a couple of people I know  before we board the bus down to Rapness and the evening boat to Kirkwall. There we'll wander to the bus for Stromness and the Bed and Breakfast boat bound for Scrabster. This is a great service which allows you to board the 06:30 crossing the previous evening. You have a cabin and sleep onboard. It's great because otherwise you have to be ready to board from a very early hour. When the boat sets sail you can get up and head for the breakfast which is included in your ticket price.

But that's tomorrow's tale. This morning I'm watching the seals swimming in the bay just outside the window. I'm not ready to say goodbye to Westray yet.
