Above And Beyond...

Pembridge Castle

I was up early helping a professional garden maintenance man strim around the gas tank area in our meadow as the weeds had got some five feet tall and needed taming! I'll put down industrial weed killer prior to the ground cover and wood chips being put down in the next few months.

Afterwards I was treated to a private view of nearby Pembridge Castle which lies between Welsh Newon (in England!) and Garway, where the Knights Templar Church of St Michael's (1180AD) is.

I was asked not to display photo's of Pembridge Castle (1135AD) but as the one I've posted is an exterior view, and there's a few online that you can see anyway,  I'm okay.  The former lady occupant died of old age a few years ago and it's now in the care of a local solicitors firm whilst they try and find a trust to buy and look after it.

I found the private chapel draw dropping complete with wooden rood screen, gargoyles, latin inscriptions, stone carvings and the overall feel of history.  I spotted the altar is Knights Templar and another carving on the wall lead me to think there's a connection to nearby Garway Church. It was just awesome.

The daughter is just about to arrive with her two dogs we are looking after for a week whilst they take granddaughter Amelia on holidays!  We'll take them to our local dog friendly pub tonight to welcome in the weekend.

Have a good weekend whatever you're doing!
