Foraging Squirrel

Two days ago I witnessed house martins and swallow congregating, presumably for their flight back south. Today, I spotted this squirrel with what seemed like a bundle of moss or similar on a bark heap. It's made me wonder if we can expect an earlier and cooler Autumn.
