Here Be Dragons*

I shot this very accomodating male southern hawker in the front garden this morning.

Down to the family nursery again. A throng of people, police cars and a very distressed elderly woman, who lives opposite, outside. Our tenant had brought a tractor from their head office premises and put it across the gateway to prevent vehicular access. The people took selfies with the police as they left. Very upsetting that the police threatened to arrest my sister's partner last night for swearing quite mildly at my nephew after he had valiantly spent many hours blocking the gate for us. They also threatened to arrest the elderly neighbour for standing with her hands on her hips and raising her voice.

I've heard this evening that my nephew and the people have managed to gain access for their vehicles. The festival with 200 attendees will probably go ahead. My nephew has no right under the farm business tenancy to go onto the land at all, let alone organise a festival there.

PS *"Here be dragons" (Latin: hic sunt dracones) means dangerous or unexplored territories, in imitation of a medieval practice of putting illustrations of dragons, sea monsters and other mythological creatures on uncharted areas of maps where potential dangers were thought to exist.
