..the Southwell Music Festival branding of the superb late evening choral only performance of a programme of versions of Ave Maria and other motets - 12 of them in the nave at the Minster.
Pictured is the afternoon performance in the Crossing (ie transcept) concert including solo french horn and solo flute pieces.
Early evening a strings plus tenor (Mark Padmore) programme in the nave - he was special matching his reputation.
Festival Day Highlights - for the enthusiast!
Highlights were Ave Verum Corpus (Byrd) Re-imagined by Roderick Williams and Missing Pieces - Two, Three by Gemma Bass with splits the chamber choral into pairs and allows improvisation as to when each pair sings their prescribed notes - both in the late evening concert. The french horn solo piece and remote playing from both the quire and the nave. Early evening had to be the voice of Mark Padmore.
Led by the senior cleric of my village diocese, sharing a local pint then ducking under the tree wind-damaged taped off area on the way back to the Minster main entrance was highly memorable too
Roderick Williams: Ave verum corpus re-imagined - not as well sung as this evening
