Such a treat

Sunshine and ripe tomatoes. Currently picking a little bowl each day to have with my lunch.
A day of mostly errands and sorting things out. And packing. Off pretty early in the morning for a couple of days.
In the evening for Friday film club we watched ‘Summer of Soul’ a documentary of the Harlem Culture festival which took place over 6 summer weekends, in 1969. It was filmed at the time - but they were unable to get it shown. Film distributors were only interested in Woodstock which happened the same summer. Still quite difficult to get hold of, a couple of streaming platforms have it. I don’t know who was the most brilliant: sly and the family Stone, Stevie Wonder, Mahalia Jackson, Gladys Knight, but I think the answer is a young Nina Simone, who sent chills up my spine. It now includes interviews done in 2020 of people who were there, in the crowd, and musicians. People saying it was a watershed summer when people stopped being ‘coloured’ or ‘negro’ and became Black. Really recommend watching it
