Gouffre de Padirac

Today was much easier as we decided to cycle near to the River Dordogne. The alternative was to cycle to Rocamadour but everyone who we spoke to had said in horror 'it is very ,very hilly'. We cycled on to Carennac and came to the Gouffre de Padirac. We weren't allowed to take photos inside but you can see how deep the start of it is by this shot. The descent is by lift or stairs 103 metres down. This time we got onto a boat which took us further into the chasm. We then got out and a guide took us around. There are not so many interesting stalactite and stalagmites but there is one exceptional one of 60 metres high. There are several galleries to walk round then back on the boat to the start.

We camped not much further along. 38 km
