Beaten by the squirrel - again

Image 1. The squirrel is peering hungrily at the peanuts in the bird feeder.
I’m confident it will not get to them.

Image 2 The marauding squirrel is beaten by the baffle and is prevented from getting to the bird feeders.

Ti-ra-la-la-i-tu! I gloat! Hear me!

Image 3. The squirrel runs up the cherry tree and leaps through the air to land on the feeder!

Now who is gloating?

Then, two minutes later, a second squirrel appears but is baffled and defeated. It too climbs the cherry tree but is put off by the distance and retreats.

I’m smiling again.

Even more so when a nuthatch flies in
