Our village church
The gîte guests were all very organised, and both families left just before 8.30, and the cleaners, who are usually texting to ask when they can start, were caught off guard this week (most groups leave at 10am) and didn’t get here for an hour.
I spent the day washing bed linen while the weather was still warm and sunny, before the drizzle started at around 4, then this evening it was our village meal, as part of the whole weekend fête. We met some friends there and unfortunately there was a professional quizmaster, who played the intro to every tv show ever shown in France, and people had to shout out the answers, naming the tune. It was all very loud!
One little boy who must have only been about 4 or 5, kept coming forward to say Pokémon as the answer to almost every tune, but was wrong each time! We hadn’t a clue as most of the tunes we knew were to shows called something entirely different in French, so translation was no help at all.
At 9.30 all the small children left to take part in a candlelight procession from the Church around the village, but as with most events locally, nothing ever starts on time, so by 10pm we’d lost interest and headed home to see if Elvis was ok on his own.
Sorry I’ve been very blipless lately, I shall try to do better in future!
