Eyes

Work in the morning then two of us testing my mums eyes in the afternoon.
She’s insistent she’s capable of going back to driving nearly a year after her accident.
Despite little strength in her affected leg and dopey with drugs However the big issue is intractable double vision and below driving standard vision which makes me say a strong NO. She will not listen.
She went to her own optician in Kelso. Didn’t tell them about her double vision so they would say she’s legal to drive
She’s not.
Also, her vision has dropped four lines in a year and the optician couldn’t explain why. The joys of having better equipment we were able to scan the macula, clear, look properly for glaucoma clear , check her cataract surgery results. Clear
The problem? Her tear film. Tears were almost non existent so constantly like looking through a dirty windscreen.
Plus an underlying squint breaking down and no longer able to compensate hence the double vision.
Worryingly none of which her own optician picked up on and had said she was referring her for glaucoma and debris on her intraocular lens. Hmmm

Haven’t got her legal. But hopefully reassured she’s not going blind.

Recovered with lunch at The Beach House then drove her back to Kelso and tea at Cobbles

Earned it!
