Estrela Island

Kayaked over to this island off the Estrela peninsula, to explore the little house we've often wondered about. Obviously not totally abandoned, though no-one lives there - new trees planted, paths strimmed, roof in good shape, TV aerial, door locked. Wonder if it's kept up for sentimental reasons, or whether it's actually ever used. Everything on the islands or around the over 1000km shoreline belongs to the company that built the Alqueva dam, but can't imagine anyone checks much. Photo was after we got back to the mainland.

Gratefuls:
- our son-in-law's birthday, thanks for being such a great part of our family, Sam
- two kayak outings today, though both quite short
- the sky as we drove back from Estrela, getting progressively more beautiful, streaks of deep pink against a soft orange background
