Shipping up to Boston
Today we had a seven and a half hour bus journey ahead of us from Philly up to Boston.
The journey was fine (although as usual the advertised WiFi was not happening). We got chatting to one woman who off to Cape Cod. She told us if we had time we should pop up for dinner, as her mother would love us "old world types".
Our accommodation was in Jamaica Plains, which was part of Boston's Emerald necklace. This meant it was a fairly scenic suburb all full of new English paneled housing, coming across like some quaint small town. Rather than an area of a city.
We stayed in the home of a Venezuelan artist, Roberto, in a community housing project after the Scandinavian model. It was a beautiful shared apartment building. We chatted with him for a while before we headed out for some dinner.
As it was pretty late, dinner was Pizza. A thin mist had fallen over Jamaica plains by this point, which made a cool alternative to the day. We closed the evening by checking out Haven's, a Scottish theme bar. Kinda classy compared to many of the Irish bars of Philly. The proprietor's accent went from Boston to Stonehaven as soon as he realised where we were from. It was an amusing experience having a Williams brother beer in an export bottle.
