Someone in the house's birthday today.

One of our girls arrived back from Glasgow mid-morning to see her mum on The Big Day and after cards, presents, coffees and cake us grown-ups had to leave for a day of being out and about.

First up, Same Team at The Traverse. Ridiculously entertaining, a massive amount of fun, with a whole ton of heart and a real emotional clout as well. And what a reception from the audience! I've seen a few fantastic performances this festival and I reckon that Hannah Jarrett-Scott as 'The B' is right up there.

A pint in the sun, well sunish - always that bloody wind!! - and off up to to The Cameo for the matinee screening of Kneecap. Summat of a riot/romp that's as energetic as you like and certainly pulls no punches in getting its points across.

Birthday food out at Baba on George St/Charlotte Square. We'd never been before and I have to report that the food and the service was very good indeed. An assortment of Lebanese mezes, grills and sides that really did hit the spot.

Now I'm quite a fan of the album '69 Love Songs' by The Magnetic Fields, in fact I've even got form on here with a side-project some years ago, so the chance to see them perform it in full over two nights at The Queens Hall was too good an opportunity to miss. Tonight was Part One and it was pretty great I have to say. Several highlights - The Book Of Love, I Don't Believe In The Sun, the closing Promises Of Eternity sung with a standing swagger by the band's guitarist at the back of the stage under a single spotlight with the rest of the band in darkness being charm personified, and...
