Are You a Boy or Are You a Girl

Immature male Ruby-throated hummers are sometimes tricky to identify. Depending on the reflected light, their tiny iridescent red throat patch or gorget isn't always obvious. It will grow larger and will eventually cover the entire throat. I thought this one was a female until I noticed the small red spot on the 'tongue-out' shot in my *extra.
