Loughborough Mela 2024

The Mela, a celebration of all things South Asian, is scheduled for months in advance, so how can organisers and performers know that the weather is going to very unseasonable on the day for which is planned. It was unbelievably cool and grey in Loughborough, a huge shame for all those involved who put so much work into it and performed with great gusto.

I bought a helping of chilli paneer and Len three samosas and a spring roll, at amazingly low prices. Which we ate with our lattes in Caffè Nero. I also had a henna design penned on my hand. Len was fascinated.

In all, the place was very empty. I've never seen the car park so empty nor the roads so clear of traffic.
