Shibden Hall
Shibden Hall (blipped) was the last stop on our ~1400 mile return trip to Englandshire. We have been keen to visit the home of (Gentleman Jack) Anne Lister for quite a while. Breaking our journey northwards in Yorkshire seemed the perfect opportunity to do so.
After our disappointing visit to Sutton Hoo(peless) last Thursday, we tempered our expectations of Shibden Hall. This turned out to be completely unnecessary. Although there weren't any official guided tours, the staff on duty in the house were excellent and very generous with their time with us, answering our apparently endless string of questions. It was also fun to pick out parts of the house that we recognised from the television series.
We drove home this afternoon, watching the temperature drop on the car thermometer as we travelled north. Back home again, our flat feels vast and very quiet. It also appears that the garden has been 'partying' in our absence.
Exercise today: not much again (6263 steps), but this will all change tomorrow!
