Moonscape

Spent an interesting afternoon at Grosbeak Lake which is part of a unique salt flat in Wood Buffalo National Park. It's very shallow and is surrounded with large areas of 'beach' which are strewn with boulders of every shape and size which were carried by glacial ice during the last Ice Age and deposited here as the glaciers retreated. After long dry spells these flats are white with salt but it rained a few days ago so this section was back down to clay.
It was hard to chose a photo today but this one won because I loved the design of the mud beside the textures of the rock. The mosquitoes were out in force but I can now vouch that Bugshirts work! So far I haven't come across any bulldog horseflies.... yeah!
