Sudden Joy

Tonight was the 10th anniversary sell-out concert of the Southwell Music Festival which kicked off with the premiere of a piece commissioned by the festival "With What Sudden Joy". Cheryl Frances-Hoad, the composer is pictured above: the libretto was written by Kate Wakeling following workshops with some Southwell townsfolk

It was the main reason I attended and I loved it, but unsurprisingly not enjoyed by most other people I spoke to who had come for Mozart's Requiem which followed.
