Vancouver Wine & Jazz Festival

In its 24th year, it was the first time for us to be there. Eric’s “Doctor’s Band” had a long-standing gig in Laurelhurst Park that always conflicted with this event, but nothing stays the same, does it? We’re listening to Stanley Jordan in a fine, summery set while a different band, that Eric plays in, waits for this set to end before playing their second set way across the park in a very much lesser stage: the ground, covered by a tent much too small for a big band, leaving the saxes and rhythm players out in the full sun.  Sometimes these bands are gluttons for punishment. Oh well, it was fun for me.
