Hoovering the hedge

Yes truly, today I was hoovering the hedge. I had seen on social media about hoovering all the caterpillars out of the hedge before treating it with pest control.
Once again, our hedge is being eaten by box caterpillars. It had grown back after the spring attack but the caterpillars have come back with a vengeance.
I got a few strange looks as people walked by.
