Fishing the Kenai

According to the fishing report 90,000 red salmon completed their long journey from the Pacific Ocean through Cook Inlet and entered the mouth of the Kenai River today. This is the beginning of the 2 week Sockeye salmon run.

The place where these people are fishing is several miles from the mouth of the river, so it will be a few days before those fish will reach this spot. But other reds have been swimming up the Kenai toward their spawning grounds, and these folks are enjoying the day fishing, catching, watching, or just soaking up the sun.
