Hartlepool in town
Since getting to know my dentist's husband, who hails from Hartlepool, I have become an honorary Hartlepool fan. So it was that he go tickets for The Pool's game against Woking yesterday. It was an entertaining match with Hartlepool racing into an early 2 nil lead only then to have a player sent of after receiving a second yellow card. The first yellow card was a bit iffy but, a few minutes later, he stupidly lunged into a Woking player and that yellow card was deserved. Two yellows equal a red, and off he went. This meant that Hartlepool had to play most of the game with ten men and eventually, midway through the second half, the pressure told and they conceded a goal. Woking equalised in the 89th minute and got the winner with just a couple of minutes of added time to play. There were 203 "away" fans at the match so it would have been a long and dispirited journey home to the North East for those who had travelled down to support their team. The main photo shows some aerial action, the extra is of some ground action! Plus a Hartlepool flag declaring "we are second to none... the North East number 1" . Pity it didn't work out for them in the South East yesterday.
