São Pedro de Moel
Made a spur of the moment decision to leave for the north a day early, after handing in our plans yesterday (thanks so much to everyone for your well wishes), so it was all systems go, and then several hours driving - headed for this coastal town, recommended by our friend, Rita.
Arrived about 10pm, hungry, but found a good place still serving, hurray, but heck, it was cold. Stupidly, unable to imagine it, hadn't packed anything warm. And still cold this morning, but soon warmed up as the sun emerged. Amazed to see loads of folk reading books on the beach, and drinking espressos. And poetry written everywhere, and various places to help yourself to a free poem. Plus, free pumps of sunscreen, enriched with rose oil.
Went on to another recommended beach, Praia Velha, where I actually swam (it was freezing!). And then on to Figueira da Foz, where we are installed in our usual place, with Sr António, such a love. Tomorrow, the Retreat.
Gratefuls:
- an unexpected beach day, so relaxing
- Rita's good recommendations
- a really good answer to prayer from Sutton
