Who knew?
One unwanted double duvet folded in half and sewn round the edges is exactly the right size to make a mattress topper for a single bed.
Two unwanted single duvet covers sewn together round the edges are exactly the right size to make a mattress topper for a sofa-bed.
Someone satisfyingly tidy came up with the ratios of mattress and duvet sizes.
Then, when I caught up with Freegle, three different people had advertised free mattress toppers in three different sizes within 5 hours of each other today. Synchronicity. The previous one advertised was over a fortnight ago.
When I dragged open the sofa bed I discovered why the sofa is lopsided and the bed doesn't open properly. It was extremely fiddly but from a weird angle I managed to remove a bolt, haul the metal frame upwards against its wooden support then reinsert and tighten the bolt to hold the frame where it should be. All the while keeping my phone next to me just in case I needed to call emergency services to help with a broken arm. I also discovered two lengths of webbing torn from their moorings so will see whether the wonderful Timpson can help with that tomorrow. I suspect it's been like that since the sofa was moved back in from being upended in the shed.
I write all this banal stuff not so much to bore posterity and 99% of you witless but more in the hope that there's a Blipper out there who can give me advice. Or, failing that, to remind my future self what I used to get up to.
Photo taken on my outing to donate to Secondborn what she had requested of my superfluous bedding and to help her write a Best Man's speech. Neither task hugely successful since she handed me back an equal volume of bedding that she'd borrowed from me a month ago and she was too tired to tackle the speech.
