How will his life go?
He is from Venezuela and is in Mexico with his dad, his mother and siblings are still in Venezuela. His father is working and they eventually plan to make it to the U.S. He's not in school but is so bright, friendly and confident. I managed to catch this photo quickly, he didn't want to be in a photo. I told him he was muy guapo (very handsome.) He had the cutest dimples. He didn't really want to talk about himself, he had questions for us. He said he had never spoken with gringas (white women) before. He made my heart hurt, I wanted to give him money but didn't want to offend him. The socioeconomic and political crisis in his country is huge and I wonder how his life will go. I wondered about their travels through Panama and Central America to get to Puerto Escondido. He was obviously loved. The world is just so hard. I asked his name but couldn't understand it. I will go back down there on Thursday to see if he's on the same beach. It will be without my friend and landlady who speaks excellent Spanish. Maybe my next volunteer opportunity in Phoenix will be with kids.
