Whimbrel

Despite ages walking around the crofts, this was as close as I got to my selected target - despite my wonderful 500mm lens! The Whimbrel is very like the Curlew, but with a smaller beak, different head markings, and a different call. They are so wary that often the call is the only way that you can distinguish them. I'm going to have another attempt at getting closer, because they feed on our croft - but not today!
