Petrel release

Sometimes all things align…. Our Kerguelen petrel is finally waterproof, at good weight and really ready to leave. We couldn’t get a boat( local Coast Guard has helped in the past) so our vet found a surfer at the beach who was willing to help. He took it out beyond the waves. Our beautiful bird smelt the wind, flapped it’s wings, caught a breeze and away it flew. Back to the Southern Indian Ocean. I hope it’s GPS is working.
