Thursday: Big Garden Tidy Up

Decided to go to Lidl and B&M to stock up on our grocery supplies - weather was sunny and warmish at 17°C.

After lunch I spent an hour or so pulling up Crocosmia and ivy and cutting back lower branches of Buddleia and horse chestnut - this was along the back wall pictured above … didn’t do too much as I can’t afford to strain my stomach muscles again. MrD went for a ride on his motorbike around the narrow lanes near where we both worked before I retired.

Around 6pm I was looking through the front upstairs window and saw a large dark Dragonfly flying over the garden, out over the road and almost up to the window itself - I’ve seen dragonflies before but a number of years ago, so special to see these amazing creatures!

This evening at dusk, there was a beautiful Song Thrush on the wall next to where I was clearing earlier - by the time I walked upstairs to look at it from indoors, the bird was on the ground searching for anything which was edible :-))
